POST DIPLOMA IN THERMAL POWER PLANT ENGINEERING (2009)
Fulfilling the mandatory requirements of Indian Electricity Rules, 1956,
Amended in 1981
WHY SHOULD JOIN?
The main aim of the course is to develop a pool of technically trained manpower
readily available for recruitment to the Indian Power Sector. The course
improves and enhances the knowledge and skill of the diploma engineers sponsored
by the Power Utilities.
ABOUT THE COURSE:
The course is of one year duration (2 Semesters) and covers all aspects of
Operation & Maintenance of Thermal Power Plants. Formal coaching shall be
held at Regional Institute of NPTI, located at Badarpur, New Delhi. On-Job
training is conducted at the nearby Power Stations. The course authorises the
Diploma Holders to operate or undertake maintenance of any part or whole of
generating station of capacity 100 M W and above together with the associated
substation.
ELIGIBILITY:
Three years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Control &
Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent from a recognized Technical Board with
minimum of 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Merit (% for marks in Diploma)
AGE LIMIT:
27 YEARS ON 05-01-2009. No age limit for sponsored canidates
TOTAL SEATS:
60 (Sixty) Reservation for SC/ST/Physically Handicapped/OBC and other categories
is applicable as per Govt. Norms. The seats may be increased as per the
discretion of NPTI. 25% seats are reserved for candidates sponsored from power
utilities.
PLACEMENT:
NPTI maintains close linkage with power utilities for employment of these
trained engineers. The candidates who are placed torugh campus efforts shall
have to pay placemnt charges as applicable. However NPTI does not have any
commitment for placements. Sponsored candidates shall not nbe allowed for campus
placements.
HOW TO APPLY:
Application on plain paper along with the Demand Draft of Rs.500/- in favour of
NPTI payable at New Delhi should reach the Principal Director, National Power
Training Institute (NR), Badarpur, New Delhi-110044 with three passport size
photographs in the following format:

FEES:
For non-sponsored candidates: Rs. 60,000/- (in three installments). For
candidates sponsored from SEBs/ PSUs/ Private Utilities Rs. 1,00,000/- lump-sum
at the time of admission. There is no fee concession for any category of
candidates.
Rs.3100/- as transport charges for visits to power stations and industires and
refundable secruity of RS.2000/- are payable separately at the time of
admission.

Other Countries : US$ 7,000/-
LODGING / BOARDING :
Facilities available on nominal charges. Separate hostel for girls.
