SAHEI (SRDE’s Association of Higher Education Institutions) is an Association of Higher Education Institutions. It has been formed to provide services to the member Institutions for facilitating their various activities. It is striving to foster better quality, wider reach and higher knowledge standards among the members. The flagship activity of SAHEI is the National Aptitude Test (NAT). NAT, conducted nation-wide is geared to  assess the aptitude of candidates for courses of study in vocational, professional, management and allied areas at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels. Accordingly, NAT is conducted at two levels: NAT-UG  for undergraduate level and NAT-PG for post-graduate level programmes.

NAT is an All India Level Common Entrance Test administered under the aegis of SRDE's Association of Higher Education Institutions( SAHEI), Delhi. The Entrance Test is available for students at the Under Graduate (NAT-UG) and the Post Graduate (NAT-PG) levels for fulfilling the requirements of different Higher Education Institutions on a common platform and thereby enabling access to various Professional, Vocational, Management and Allied programmes like BBA, BCA etc. at the UG and MBA, PGDM etc. at the PG levels in these Institutions.

Objective & Scope of NAT:

SAHEI seeks to cater to the diverse needs of the Indian Higher Education system. It primarily aims to meet the needs of holding a single Common Entrance Test for facilitating vocational, professional, management and allied programme admissions in Higher Education Institutions for the benefit of both the candidates as well as the Universities & Institutions at large. There has been a significant increase in the number of Higher Education seekers and providers which is further bound to increase with time. As entrance criteria is a very vital component for the success of any academic programme ; NAT seeks to address this need and do away with multiple tests in the system at both the UG & PG Levels. The NAT scores also provides the criteria for SAHEI to offer scholarships and awards each year.

Participation Criteria:

The following institutions/organizations are eligible to participate in NAT testing system:

  • Universities recognised by University Grants Commission, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India
  • Institutes & colleges approved by the statutory bodies like AICTE, etc.
  • Other Higher Education Institutions.

Nature of NAT Test:

NAT will be conducted for:
(1) Under-graduate level i.e. NAT- UG
(2) Post-graduate level i.e. NAT- PG

Structure of NAT - UG:

(i) NAT-UG question paper contains 170 questions divided into five sections.
(ii) Total time for the Test is 2½ hours.
(iii) The questions will be set as follows:

  • Total No. of questions: 170
  • No. of questions to be attempted: 170
  • Maximum Marks: 170
  • Total time allotted: 150 minutes

Structure of NAT - PG

(i) NAT-PG question paper contains 200 questions divided into five sections.
(ii) Total time for the Test is 2½ hours.
(iii) The questions will be set as follows:

  • Total No. of questions: 200
  • No. of questions to be attempted: 200
  • Maximum Marks: 200
  • Total time allotted: 150 minutes

Eligibility

NAT-UG [ Under-graduate ]:

  • Eligibility : Candidates who have passed or appeared / are going to appear in the 10+2 of recognised Boards are eligible to appear for NAT-UG and their results will be valid only if they clear the Senior Secondary or equivalent examination of the approved Boards.

NAT-PG [ Post-graduate ]:

  • Eligibility : Candidates who have passed or appeared / are going to appear in the final year of the graduate degree courses of UGC /AICTE recognised Universities / Institutions are also eligible to appear for NAT-PG and their results will be valid only if they clear the qualifying examination.

How To Apply For Taking NAT-UG & NAT-PG

  • The candidates have to fill in the enclosed OMR registration form for NAT-UG or NAT-PG as the case may be. Please ensure that relevant option of NAT-UG or NAT-PG as the case may be is properly filled in.
  • The specimen Registration Form for NAT duly filled in with the data of a specimen candidate is enclosed on page 13 of this Bulletin. Please read it carefully before filling in the actual Registration Form. Please send the filled-up Registration form at an early date, so that it reaches SRDE-SAHEI, A-1/4, Sector 8, ROHINI, DELHI.
  • Registration form complete in all respect be mailed after affixing necessary postal stamps by ordinary post only or it can be dropped in the box kept for the purpose at the above address. Any other mode / manner of sending the Registration form (Speed Post, Registered Post, Courier Mail) would not be acceptable.
  • Along with the Registration Form, no certificate or document should be attached. The Registration Form should not be stapled, wrinkled or damaged in any manner. On receipt of the Registration Form the Admit Card (with details of Roll No., address of the test venue, etc.) will be uploaded on the website www.srde.org and no individual admit cards / communication shall be sent to candidates individually.
  • Candidates are responsible for the accuracy of the information provided in the Registration Form.
  • Non-obtaining of Admit Card: In case you are not able to view / download your admit card by seven days before the test date from NAT website www.srde.org you may contact the SAHEI Office in New Delhi to check whether your Registration Form was received by SAHEI Office. Still in case of any problem regarding the admit card, you may follow the instructions on the website regarding appearing in the test and / or  obtaining Duplicate Admit cards. You must obtain your Admit Card in order to appear for the test. Candidates without the Admit card will not be allowed to appear for the test

  • Commencement of sale of NAT forms for Candidates: 21st March 2011
  • Last Date of sale of NAT forms to Candidates: 3rd May 2011
  • Last Date for Submission of NAT forms by Candidates to SAHEI: 3rd May 2011
  • Date of Test (NAT-UG & NAT-PG) Paper / Pencil: 22nd May 2011
  • Date of Declaration of Result: 31st May 2011
  • NAT Online Registration Commencement (New): 23rd May, 2011
