News : IIT Guwahati - Winners Of AETA 2008

Agilent Technologies, the world’s premier Test & Measurement company, across communications, electronics, Bio analytical measurements and material sciences today announced IIT Guwahati as the national winners for Agilent Engineering & Technology Awards (AETA) 2008 at IIT Delhi. The competition witnessed participation of over top 50 institutes across the country. The eight institutes who made it to the finals were IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, NIT Durgapur, NIT Rourkela, IT Banaras Hindu University, NIT Hamirpur, BIT Mesra & SJCE Mysore. The Winners would get a chance to visit and interact with world class scientists at Agilent’s best-in-class R&D facility based in San Francisco. The exclusive visit would provide the students with an exposure to scientific privileges and new technological developments in the test and measurement industry.

Agilent Engineering and Technology Awards 2008 commenced in November 2007 and involved three rounds of short-listing. The first round was at the institute level of the participating engineering colleges, second round was at the regional level and then the final round where the winners were selected by the jury comprising of leading scientists & engineers of national repute.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Venkatesh Valluri, President and Country General Manager, Agilent Technologies said, “AETA is an annual initiative of Agilent through which we strive to recognize the talent pool of the country and give the students maximum exposure to global standards. Agilent is committed to supporting economic and technological development in India, by expanding several education and community programs in the country furthering science education and the future of technology in India.”
