Post Doctoral Fellow (PDF) and Ph.D:
Major Research areas include foundry, forge, manufacturing engineering, materials science, metallurgical engineering, environmental science and engineering, computational materials engineering and pure and applied sciences.
Master of Technology (M, Tech, – 4 semesters/24 months):
(1) Foundry-Forge Technology (FFT)
(2) Manufacturing Engineering (ME)
(3) Materials Science and Engineering (MSE)
(4) Environmental Engineering (EE).
Advanced Diploma Course (ADC)
(1) Foundry Technology: and
(2) Forge Technology.
Eligibility:
(a) PDF: PhD in relevant area
(b) PhD: M. E./M. Tech./M. Sc. from a recognized
institute/university
(c) M. Tech.:
- FFT: Degree or equivalent in Mech./Met./Prod. Engg.;
- ME: Degree in Mech,/Met,/Prod,/E|ect,/Aero,/
Chem,/ Ind./Manuf, Engg,; - MSE: Degree in Mech,/Met,/Ceramic/Mat, Sc, & Engg. or M. Sc. in Phy./Chem.;
- EE: Degree in Engg. (any branch) or M. Sc. in Phy./ Chem./ Env. Science. Candidates with M. Sc. must have studied Maths at +2 level. Minimum CGPA of 6.5 (6.0forSC/ST) or 60% (55% for SC/ST) aggregate marks is essential;
(d) ADC: Diploma in Mech,/Met,/Prod, Engg, or B, Sc. (Phy./Chem./Maths)
with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST); (e) Few seats are available for sponsored
candidates;

How to Apply:
(a) PDF and PhD: Apply on plain paper with detailed CV including
academic achievements, etc.
(b) M. Tech. and ADC: Application forms and information brochure can be
obtained by sending requisite application fee, in the form of DD drawn on any
Nationalized Bank in favor of National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology
payable at Ranchi along with a self addressed, stamped (Rs. 25.00) envelope of
28×16 cm size, to the Chairman, Academic Affairs
(c) Alternatively, the application form and information brochure can be
downloaded from the Institute website or obtained in person, from academic
section, by producing DD towards application fee;
(d) Application Fee: PDF and PhD: No fee; M. Tech.: Rs. 350.00 for
General/OBC and Rs. 100.00 for SC/ ST; ADC: Rs. 300.00 for General/OBC and Rs.
80.00 for SC/ST
(e) Filled applications with requisite fees (for downloaded forms only)
and supporting documents may be sent to Chairman, Academic Affairs, NIFFT, Hatia,
Ranchi – 834 003; (f) The Institute will not be responsible for any postal
delays/loss; (g) Separate application must be submitted for each M. Tech.
branch.
Selection Process:
(a) PDF: Interview
(b) PhD and M. Tech.: GATE Score/Screening test and interview (dates will
be announced later in the Institute website); (c) ADC: Written test will be held
at NIFFT, Ranchi on 10/07/2011 (Sunday, 11,00 AM-02,00 PM)
(d) Reservations as per Govt. of India rules
