Indo Swiss Joint Research Programme- 2011
Scholarship Description:
Grants for Joint Research Projects are meant to promote collaborative
projects with clearly defined goals involving at least one Swiss and one Indian
partner. Applications should describe ambitious research and propose innovative
approaches.
Curiosity-driven and goal-oriented research will be evenly supported. In case of
goal-oriented proposals, applications should include a detailed dissemination
plan specifying how project findings will be used for the benefits of the
community, e.g., through incorporation into products and services.
The forming of inter- and multidisciplinary research teams is highly encouraged.
Applications will be accepted only from Swiss and Indian citizens or permanent residents of Switzerland and India. Applicants should have a stable/regular appointment as a faculty member at an eligible Swiss/Indian university or research institute.
Evaluation and selection:
Joint applications will be evaluated independently in Switzerland and India. In India, applications will be evaluated by DST. In Switzerland, SNSF will carry out the scientific evaluation Project duration:
Evaluation criteria: (not listed in the order of priority)
- Scientific merit, significance and potential impact of the proposed research
- Originality of the proposed research
- Suitability and originality of the proposed methods
- Experience and past performance of applicants
- Specific qualification of applicants for the proposed research
- Complementarities of expertise between involved partners and potential for synergy
- Feasibility of the project
- Potential for exploitation/commercialization of results
Project Duration: Up to 36 months

Eligible proposes in Switzerland:
- Swiss federal institutes of technology, cantonal universities of higher education, federal and cantonal research institutions, Swiss universities of applied sciences, other research institutions eligible for receiving federal funding.
- Private sector partners are welcome to participate but will not be eligible for ISJRP funding
Important Dates:
- Call release: 21 January 2011
- Deadline for submission: 30 April 2011
- Funding decision: December 2011
- Project start: January 2012
