Believe it or not. It's now clear that Bhubaneswar is fast emerging as an education destination with students from different parts of the country converging here to study in various educational institutions.
A total of 35000 applicants are set to appear in the KIIT Entrance Examination-2008 (KIITEE'08) for admission for only 450 engineering seats on May 3 and 4.
Every year KIIT University receives quite a number of applications for admission into its engineering programmes, but this year there has been a phenomenal growth in the number of applicants from length and breadth of the country stretching from Jammu Kashmir to the Andaman.
As per the university norms KIIT fills up 50 percent of the seats from the successful candidates of the AIEEE, while 50 percent of the seats are filled up through KIIT's own entrance examination KITEE for which the tests are conducted in specified centres spread over the country and abroad.
Out of 75 examination centre throughout the country, there are 13 centres for Orissa and 15000 students from the State are appearing in the KIITEE this time.
An online test facility will be there for the candidates from outside of the country.
The KIITEE result will be declared on May 20 and counseling for admission will be continuing from June 10 to 17. The 2008-09 session will start from July 1.
